延续传统，致力创新
《粤剧新年盛会》历来以“弘扬岭南文化，振兴粤剧艺术”为宗旨，以展示“名伶、名剧、名曲”作为特色。2012版的新年盛会老倌云集，如：丁凡、曹秀琴、梁耀安、姚志强、麦玉清、梁淑卿、蒋文端、林家宝、曾小敏、彭庆华等10位国家一级演员，以经典粤剧名剧——《梦断香销四十年》和《紫钗记》中耳熟能详、家喻户晓的唱段呈献观众，尽显省院团实力。
广东粤剧院向来在培养粤剧人才、传承和发展粤剧有生力量方面不遗余力。这次的粤剧新年盛会也是剧院人才的“大阅兵”。剧院领导班子在此次台晚会的用人上别出心裁——创造性地以年轻编演团队作为晚会设计主调，如晚会导演、舞蹈统筹、舞美统筹、乐队统筹等主创人员，皆是剧院青年力量担角。整台晚会节目节奏清晰明快，音乐设计、舞蹈编排新颖突出。主创人员更是大玩高科技，将传统戏曲舞台表演与大型LED投影有机结合，使整台晚会两条主线更为突出，让人物和剧情的触觉更大程度地向外延伸。当晚粤剧舞台新秀，如王燕飞、冼鉴棠、文汝清、李嘉宜、梁晓莹、吴诗、吴泽东、许文杰等与老倌同台献艺，结合华丽的舞台效果，务求让观众最大程度享受这台粤剧飨宴。
浓情十二载，好戏赠戏迷
粤剧根植于广东，立足岭南，传播海内外。《粤剧新年盛会》唱响了12年，已成为粤剧舞台上一个品牌节目，更是戏迷每年期待的重要演出之一。演出当晚正值小寒，广州更是飘着小雨，但友谊剧场散发的是暖暖的粤剧情，1500名戏迷不惧5度低温，来到现场观看演出。通过《粤剧新年盛会》这个平台，省粤剧院成功实现了与戏迷的交流，结下浓情；而每一年的盛会，都是省粤剧院回馈戏迷的艺术盛宴，交给观众的年终总结和成绩单。
